The Pop Project 6 Decades of Books
On Friday 1st March, the Pop Project took us on a historical journey from the 1950s to the present day focusing on the best-selling children's books that were written and published in each decade. This uplifting show featured live music, which acted as a vehicle to grab the children's attention and also gave us all a bit of fun! During the show, pupils and staff sang, danced, and listened to hits from all six decades including: Elvis Presley, The Monkees, Mud (Mrs Farmer’s favourite), Bananarama, The Spice Girls, S Club 7 and many more.
As we journeyed from Narnia to Hogwarts, some of the girls were chosen to dress up as book characters including Paddington Bear, Harry Potter and Where’s Wally. This whetted our appetite for reading, as we were reminded of books we may have already read and were pointed to books we may not yet have encountered. A big emphasis was placed on the idea "You may have seen the film/TV series/cartoon, but you MUST read the book!" A fantastic time was had by all.
